第二首歌《Scarborough fair》响起时剧情已进入本杰明与尼恩的相爱阶段，保罗西蒙和拍档几十年来响遍世界的美妙和声。事情暴露后，本杰明悄悄目送尼恩远去，眼睛里有了从没有过的坚定神情，至少他已知道他想要的是什么。歌曲继续响着，本的红色跑车在自由自在的高速公路上飞驰，本前往尼恩的学校。在喷池边坐着，脸上有柔和的期待痕迹。本杰明追着尼恩的公车，在车上与她搭讪，使他第一次看起来象个二十一岁的男孩子，有点赖皮。尼恩与男友约会双双离去，〈Scarborough fair>再度响起，尝到一种失去的滋味。

本杰明最让我赞赏的是他的勇气。事情败露后无论是面对尼恩还是罗宾逊先生，按理来说是最难以面对的人，他都毫不隐瞒，绝无退缩。他立刻直面自己的错误，并以最直接的方式去改变。为爱情与罗宾逊夫人抗挣，本杰明驾车到处寻找被送去结婚的尼恩。
第三首歌曲 《mis Robinson》配合着车速响起。这首歌曲调轻快诙谐，带着对以罗宾逊夫人为代表的成人世界的辛辣讽刺。只是这个讽刺本杰明以自己为代价，所以又有着自嘲的意味。剧情在此处配合该曲具有喜剧的效果，这也是典型的美国式幽默：把一切沉重的经由玩笑的方式散去，包括乱伦。我想这可能是该片1968年获第二十五届金球奖最佳影片、最佳男主角奖时被归为喜剧类的原因吧。
