故事剧情接续第一集电影最后，花木兰代父从军的孝行，不但让人感动，也凭着她巾帼不让须眉的英勇机智，击退匈奴而因此解救了全中国。当她和李翔将军即将结成连理之际，此时却接到皇帝捎来的一道密令，原来皇帝为了抵御虎视眈眈的强大蛮族，决定拉拢其他邻国，便派李翔和木兰秘密护送三位公主到邻国契骨，将三位公主婷婷、素素及小梅嫁给该国太子，以期维持边疆和平。木兰和李翔接到任务后，立刻找来旧有部属阿宁、阿尧、金宝，共同启程出发完成这项重要的任务。另一方面，木兰的守卫龙木须正面临被花家祖先们罢黜的命运，原来木兰即将要嫁到李家去，依照中国女子嫁夫随夫的传统，如此一来就不再需要花家的保护了，木兰不再需要木须守护，那么木须就要失去守护神一职，而将重新回到以前担任敲锣小厮的悲惨命运，为了保住自己的饭碗，木须不惜铤而走险，居然决定在木兰和李翔任务途中搞阴谋，要拆散这对佳偶。木须使尽浑身解数，在木兰和李翔之间大肆破坏，不但不听小蟋蟀的劝阻，连汗马都被他这种异常的举动搞得很火…木兰和李翔这趟任务远行愈来愈困难，尤其途中木兰发现三位公主居然爱上别人，一向崇尚女子自由意志的木兰，跟李翔之间也因此起了不小的争执，再加上木须龙此时居然还在一旁偷偷搧风点火，情况愈来愈不可收拾。已经都快到契骨边境，没想到此时又遇上扰乱旅人的抢匪，让木兰和李翔面临一生中最重大的考验。面对这趟危机重重的任务，花木兰和李翔能不能破除万难，再度携手同心呢？面对艰困重重的这趟任务，他们最后又要如何向两国君王交代呢？
