随着战争的爆发，阿米尔跟父亲去了美国。在那里他和父亲一道辛勤的工作学习，从一无所有逐渐建立了他们的家业。然而，拉辛汗从阿富汗打来的一个电话却打破了所有的平静。
阿米尔意识到过去的从来都未曾过去。他始终无法摆脱对哈桑的歉疚。为了赎罪，为了哈桑，他再次踏上睽违二十多年的故 土。希望能为不幸的好友尽最后一点心力。然而此行却让他发现了一个惊天的谎言......
