This is one of those movies that have a lasting effect on you. After watching it, I found that it has less to do with the Holocaust and more to do with the human feelings and the beautiful relationship of a father and his son. The holocaust provides the ultimate context, that brings and highlights the story and adds yet another deep dimension to the movie. No such piece of art has ever before combined laughter and tears of sadness in me before and that is the miracle of the movie. The realism of the movie is not its strong point, but then again it is not supposed to be; this helps in bringing the audiences to a state of mind away from reality, focusing on the feelings generated by forgetting about all external events and developments of the war. Despite that, the movie does not fail to point out an element of the nazi psychology demonstrated by the doctor who was obsessed with riddles. This portrayed the nazi 'state of mind' (if ever such an expression existed) as a sick mentally disturbed state. Life is really beautiful as you watch Guido's relentless efforts to make a lovely exciting experience of the concentration camp to his son. You get exhausted just watching him going through his painful day and yet you smile as he speaks to his son and makes him laugh. One can go on forever describing the creativity of this movie, but one will not be able to capture all its beauty in writing.

L.B.Jefferies,a photographer working at a magazine,broke his left leg six week ago,so he has to stay at his two-room apartment days and days.The reason of this accident is that he stood in the middle of the racing track for taking wonderful photos.Obviously,he is responsible and he loves his job.He has nothing to do but look out the window and watch the daily life of his neighbors in these days.
Lisa,a pretty girl who loves Jefferies very much,wants to marry him,but Jefferies doesn't want to.He thinks Lisa is perfect but not what he wants.She is wealthy,smart,beautiful,fashionable and patrician,while he is only a poor,ordinary man.Besides,he only wants to find someone who could go anywhere and do anything with him,but Lisa wants him leave the magazine and stay there with her.Their wishes are opposite,and they both don't intend to compromise,so it seems very far for them to get married.
As far as I can see,Lisa really loves Jefferies or she won't takes so much time to persuade him,and tries to add some fun in his boring life in those days.She is so successful and charming and there must be many gentlemen pursuing her,but she only loves that poor photographer.In fact,Jefferies also likes her,but he just wants her more ordinary.When I am watching the movie,I really hope Jefferies takes Stella』s advice and then marries with Lisa.Fortunately,it was a happy ending.
Pride and Prejudice《傲慢與偏見》
After watching this movie,the most I like is its ending.At the very beginning,I thought Lizzy and Mr.Darcy were very suitable.We knew that Mr.Darcy fell in love with Lizzy at the second time he saw her,but Lizzy didn't liked him because of his pride.Personally saying,I like Darcy from the beginning to the end even when he only showed his unpleasant personality.Though many inhabitants thought he was overbearing,I still found some advantages of him.Well-ecated,handsome,pride but not showing his wealth,and so forth.He was quite different from Mr.Bingley.Mr.Bingley was agreeable and unreserved,and so being liked by everyone while Darcy's pride was disliked by all.Certainly,Mr.Bingley was easy to get along well with,and Darcy was hard to approach since he didn't like to talk with strangers.But they both were nice men.Mr.Bingley showed his admiration to Jane while Mr.Darcy hid his love to Lizzy in his heart secretly.For me,Darcy's hidden love was more impressive.He did much for Lizzy.Not only changed his personality,but also helped her solve her family's problem.His true love made me moved.

Heathcliff vows revenge on all concerned, which he does upon making his fortune.Oberon and Olivier had been teamed up before in the highly successful "Divorce of Lady X" from 1938, but Olivier, not yet a star in America, had wanted lover Vivien Leigh (they would wed in 1940) as Cathy. United Artists instead offered Leigh the secondary lead, which she declined. ("Gone with the Wind" gave her a better role anyway). Ironically, Oberon and Olivier supposedly detested each other. Hollywood legend has it that when Director William Wyler yelled "cut" after a particularly romantic scene, Oberon shouted at him "Tell him [Olivier] to stop spitting on me!""Wuthering Heights" had excellent proction values. The sets, especially the rocky crags, are elaborate, as are Oberon's costumes. The film was rewarded with box office success and a slew of Oscar nominations: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Olivier), Best Original (?) Screenplay (Ben Hecht), Best Art Direction (James Basevi), Best Cinematography (Gregg Toland), Best Score (Alfred Newman), Best Supporting Actress (Geraldine Fitzgerald). Kramer vs. Kramer is a 1979 film which tells the story of a divorce and its impact on everyone involved, including the couple's young son. In Kramer vs. Kramer, Joanna Kramer, a Smith College graate, is a stay-at-home mother for her son Billy. Feeling confined in this role, and neglected by her husband Ted, Joanna leaves the marriage in order to find herself a life.
Ted, who has been focusing on his career in advertising, and was just given his agency's biggest new account, is shocked by Joanna's decision and is left to raise Billy by himself. With the help of his neighbor and Joanna's friend, Margaret, Ted comes to understand why his ex-wife Joanna left. In the process, he also becomes more invested in raising Billy than in his job.
About a year and a half after leaving, Joanna returns to New York in order to claim Billy, and a custody battle ensues. The courts side with the mother. But Joanna knows that his son's true home is with Ted, and she chooses to let Billy stay with his father.

Sometimes in the past while watching animated movies of all sorts, I've lulled myself into thinking most characters are interchangeable, in that it didn't matter who voiced the character, as long as they did it competently.
Now, after seeing and enjoying "Despicable Me" I'll never have those thoughts again. With absolute certainty I will say, Steve Carell voicing the main character Gru is what makes this movie rise above ordinary. He is just made for this kind of stuff and could make the rest of his career on it, never appearing on screen himself.
Steve Carell's character, Gru, views himself as the most despicable person ever, anywhere. But suddenly he is upstaged by a young man, Vector, who steals the shrinking machine. We see this early on when tourists find out the great pyramid is an inflatable prop, because Vector shrunk the real one and stole it.
So Gru decides to steal the shrinking machine from Vector, and to pull the most audacious theft in history, will build a rocket to take him to the moon, shrink the moon, and bring it back with him.
Pretty ambitious stuff! But he needs help to get into Vector's fortress and, when he notices three orphan girls get in easily, decides to adopt the girls and use them in his scheme.
Somewhere along the path to his crimes Gru, the most despicable person on Earth, begins to care about the three girls, and that is the humanity of the story.
But all in all it is just a silly cartoon story, fun to watch, but Steve Carell with his superb vocal acting makes it worth seeing.
I was fascinated by the extras on the DVD. This movie was made by a large number of people scattered all over the world, never all at the same place. They used modern communications and linking technology to operate as one big team, rather than being physically together.

"Atonement" tells a story of a young girl (Saoirse Ronan) who witnesses a terrible thing which changes many lives dramatically. What is real and what is the truth? "Atonement" plays with these subjects.
Joe Wright has directed a brilliant drama where beautiful scenery and great story play the biggest part. The brilliant novel by Ian McEwan is fitted to the silver screen fantastically. The suspense is holding you tight in its grip. The music supports the movie and gives a delightful touch to the storytelling. The cast especially James McAvoy as Robbie and young and talented Saoirse Ronan as Briony deliver their roles with such a presence. The appearance of Vanessa Redgrave is great also. The episodic scene technique was imaginative and very mind-teasing which was a very essential ingredient to the plot.
It was very surprising that director Wright didn't get a Oscar nomination for his achievement. The screenplay of Christopher Hampton also lost in the Academy Awards. Both Wright and Hampton did a superb job. But this was clearly a year of the Coen brothers, very well earned of course. Gladly Dario Marianelli won the Golden Statue for best achievement in music.
"Atonement" is a clever, beautiful, emotional and touching experience. Definitely a worth watching!
