講述了白雪公主受到繼母皇後（格林兄弟最初手稿中為生母）的虐待，逃到森林裡，遇到七個小矮人的故事。歷史學家巴特爾思據稱白雪公主的歷史原型是1725年生於德國西部美茵河畔洛爾城的瑪利亞·索菲亞·馮·埃爾塔爾。
