Pride & Prejudice (2005)
The story is based on Jane Austen's novel about five sisters - Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet - in Georgian England. Their lives are turned upside down when a wealthy young man (Mr. Bingley) and his best friend (Mr. Darcy) arrive in their neighborhood.
Jane Austen's tale of love and economics reaches us once more with the energy of a thorough novelty. "Pride and Prejudice" has been a favorite novel of mine since I first read it and I've seen Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson, Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle and now Matthew MacFadyen and Kiera Knightly. Amazingly enough I've never been disappointed. The material seems to be full proof. Colin Firth's Darcy, in many ways, is the Darcy I've always imagined. He's been an actor I've followed feverishly since his glorious Adrian LeDuc in "Apartment Zero", Matthew MacFadyen was totally new to me but he managed to create that sense of longing that makes that final pay off so satisfying. Kiera Knightly is a ravishing revelation. I must confess, I didn't remotely imagined that she was capable of the powerful range she brilliantly shows here. The other big surprise is Joe Wright, the director, in his feature film debut which is more than promising, it's extraordinary. The photography, the art direction and the spectacular supporting cast, in particular Donald Sutherland and Brenda Blethyn, makes this new version of a perennial classic a memorable evening at the movies

pearl harbour film review
Pearl Harbor consists of three incongruous acts, mashed together into an ungainly whole. It appears to be more interested in reprocing the success of Titanic, which also set a fictional love story amidst a tragic historical event, than it is in telling the story of the men and women who fought and died in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Titanic worked because the central characters were interesting, the story was cohesive, the historical events were handled respectfully and with the proper dramatic tone, and underneath it all was an intelligent reflection on the human failings that permitted such a tragedy in the first place.
Pearl Harbor reces the historical backdrop into a series of action set pieces. Instead of exploring ideas inherent in the events, it extracts them, recing the reason for Japan's attack to something inexplicable at best, and having utterly nothing to say about why the attack happened, how it was carried out, or how we responded. The film is dedicated to the men who died at Pearl Harbor, but what does it dedicate to them? It does not seem very interested in them except as a tool for dramatic imagery. Consider, for example, a scene in which we learn that men are trapped in a sunken ship in the harbor. We learn this to emphasize the brutality of the attack, as if such emphasis were needed. Then the film forgets this point entirely, providing the fates of those men in a narrated line just before the closing credits. Why wasn't the third act of the film about those men, instead of a rushed covering of the Doolittle raid on Tokyo, complete with overblown crash landings and an improbable engagement with Japanese soldiers?
If you want to see a real movie about Pearl Harbor or the Doolittle Raid, one that paints a deep and accurate picture of what it was like, one you can learn from, one that pays tribute to our veterans, or even just one that functions as convincing entertainment, there is no shortage of options. Tora! Tora! Tora! chronicles the events before, ring, and after the attack from both the American and Japanese sides. Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo is as thorough a chronicle of the Doolittle Raid as is probably possible in a feature film, while also following the personal stories of a few indivials involved (any one of which is more interesting than the personal story in Pearl Harbor). The Purple Heart, one of the most heartbreaking movies I've ever seen, tells the story of Americans captured by the Japanese after the raid.
Writing off the historical aspects of the film, I am left with the love triangle that makes up the entire first act and pervades the rest of it. It is wholly uninteresting. This same story has been told better, countless times before. Not one of the three characters is fleshed out into an indivial: they are bland stereotypes, dolled up to look pretty and given trite lines that they recite to convey the illusion of genuine emotion. It's telling that it doesn't much matter to us how the love triangle is resolved. Unless they both die, she'll get one of them, and who cares which? Neither of the men are personable, and we surely suspect early on that her decision will be based more on fate than her own volition anyway. (In plots like this, it's survival of the survivors.) And so, alas, we are denied even the most basic of all elements of storytelling, namely, characters making actual decisions
Set in the late 13th century, 'Braveheart' is the story of one of Scotland's greatest national heroes Sir William Wallace. leader of the Scottish resistance forces ring the first years of the long, ultimately successful struggle to free Scotland from English rule...
Crucially charismatic in the title role, Gibson plays the heroic figure and emerges as a remarkable hero with wit and romantic soul, determined to rid his country of its English oppressors...
Wallace's revolution was set in motion, with great obstacles from his countrymen... Many Scottish nobles lent him only grudging support as most of them were more concerned with wealth and titles than the freedom of the country... In fact, the Scottish leaders are in favor of revolt-or not-depending on English bribes... Wallace, by comparison, is a man of honor, incorruptible and righteous... He was knighted and proclaimed 'guardian and high protector of Scotland,' but as much as he railed against the Scottish nobles, submitted to Edward I, King of England, he was astonished and in shock to discover the treachery of the leading Scot contender for the throne—Robert, the Earl of Bruce—to whom he confided , 'The people would follow you, if you would only lead them.' Sophie Marceau is exquisite as the distressed princess Isabella of France who ends up falling in love with Wallace, warning him out of several traps...
Catherine McCormack is a stunning beauty who ignites Wallace's revolution...
Patrick McGoohan is chilling, brutal, and vicious as the ruthless Edward I, known by the nickname 'Longshanks.' This king remains simply the embodiment of evil...
While Angus McFadyen moves as a nobleman torn between his conscience and political aspiration, and Brendan Gleeson brings strength and humor to his role as the robust Hamish, David O'Hara is very effective as the crazy Irishman who provides much of the film's comic relief from even the most tensed moments...
Mel Gibson has reason to be proud of 'Braveheart.' It is a motion picture that dares to be excessive... Gibson presents passionately the most spaciously impressive battles (yet staged for films) even excessively, and it is his passion and excess that make the motion picture great... The horror and futility of massed hand-to-hand combats are exciting rather repulsive... It is epic film-making at its glorious best...
Gibson's 'Braveheart' focuses on the human side of Wallace, a character so immense, so intelligent, and so passionate, exploring the definitions of honor and nobility, pushing us to follow the hero into his struggle against injustice and oppression...

Speaking of the "Patriot" movie, had to mention the American constitutional system and the founding spirit of democracy. See today, the U.S. constitutional system of democratic practice is more successful ~.
At that time a religious, self-control, sacrifice and dedication of the position under the U.S. founding fathers adopted the Jefferson's "separation of powers" (America's democracy, human rights, equal rights), and President Washington's "re-election does not more than twice "idea - is a democratic constitutional system with a high degree of religious belief in the morality of self-made democracy, it is a power of supervision and local autonomy is respected, the political system. The American spirit of freedom and democracy is now the world should also be a model of spiritual civilization and advanced representatives - perhaps this is the most humane spirit of the origin of it, because it highlights a "human spirit" of victory - and this is "personal heroism," the inevitable result.
This time, the "Patriot" is indeed completed a "Root asked the source" of the classical regression. Because the spirit of American freedom and democracy after all, is "personal heroism" nurture the soil.
First, it should be said, the film's screenplay written pretty good, with plenty of lyrical narrative plot to seize the audience's sympathy for justice. Is a typical "driven to revolt" type of story. Benjamin Martin colonel who was once the wounds of war, trying to make up the moral standards of the past to suppress themselves and their families, expect the war to neutral survival. But in the current war in the form below, any person who holds to this idea only alleys; Moreover, the influence of patriotism by the eldest son Jeb Rio has decided to join the army, father, like son. Thus the father and son made some foreshadowing later guerrilla organization. The guerrilla war is undoubtedly more than the film "heinous" in conventional warfare (read some of these subjects who shared the movie ~) more emphasis on teamwork, operational skills and flexibility. So, after another exciting chapter ..., Colonel Martin to a fight for peace, national independence and freedom of the war caused a sensation.
The film further reflected the spirit of American freedom and democracy, and below this is a reminder issued by the public mind with personal heroism. And "public spirit" is the Western liberal democracy. The heroine of this film, not only in silent support behind the front men of their families. This seems to highlight the most "personal heroism," a feature film, is always to highlight the role of women in male roles, and set off. ("True Lies" is an exception).
The only drawback is the film's soundtrack very plain, the melody of the film subject's response is not perfect. In addition, the film is how to obtain R-rating? Another question might be worth a little look. Here I will not say more ~. ^ _ ^
"Lang," said the film should be magnanimous. For me, though the film back to life would have been sufficient. However, the image behind the return of human nature is the most exciting and gives a revelation. To the guitar lessons when QUE teacher this semester so that we really view films intended to show it, this has caused a number of people thinking.
Hope that the times in the context of her once again been confirmed.

During the summer vacation, I watched a lot of movies, such as , “Hilary and Jackie”, “Up(飛屋環游記)”, “The Shawshank Redemption [ri'dempʃən]” ,“ The Legend ['ledʒənd] of 1900”,“ The Truman Show”,“ He's Just Not That Into You” and so on.Now I will share my deepest feelings about some movies with you together and taste it.
First of all,the movie “Hilary and Jackie” translated “她比煙花寂寞”in Chinnese. The six words include the infinite ['infinət] deep profound. The film is divided into two sections, the first telling events from Hilary's point of view and the second from Jackie's. It opens with Hilary and Jackie as children being taught by their mother to dance and play musical instruments, the cello for Jackie and the flute for Hilary. Jackie does not take practicing seriously at first, but when she does, she becomes a virtuoso [,və:tju'əuzəu],
quickly rising to international prominence. Hilary, on the other hand, plays in a community orchestra ['ɔ:kistrə, -kes-] and marries Christopher
of composer Gerald克里斯多夫, the son 傑拉爾德Finzi. The film, though focused primarily on Jacqueline, is ultimately ['ʌltimətli] about the relationship between the two sisters and their dedication to one another; to help Jacqueline through a
nervous-breakdown, Hilary consents to Jacqueline having an affair with her husband.
The last quarter of the movie chronicles in detail the last fifteen years of Jacqueline's life, ring which she is diagnosed with multiple ['mʌltipl] sclerosis
[skliə'rəusis] and loses control of her nervous system, becomes paralyzed
['pærəlaizd], goes deaf and mute [mju:t], and finally dies. The film ends with Jacqueline's ghost standing on the beach where she used to play as a child, watching herself and her sister frolicking in the sand as little girls..
The second movie , I was going to say the “UP”
Up is definitely one of the better Pixar efforts. It's about the grandeur
['ɡrændʒə] and excitement of flight and adventure. The first ten minutes of the film about Carl and his life-long love Ellie are surprisingly touching. It's heartbreaking to see him lose his wife even at old age. With nothing left to do Carl heads for South America, but he's not alone. Russell, a Wilderness Explorer [ik'splɔ:rə] trying to earn his
['ænimeitid] films. Like other Pixar films Up is also very funny. Thankfully, it's sweet humour instead of the gross humour that's present in many of today's Hollywood films. In conclusion, Up is another daring, unusual and beautiful animated ['ænimeitid] film from Pixar that both children and alts will enjoy watching. I highly recommend it.
Finally, the “The Shawshank Redemption [ri'dempʃən]”.I don’t know how to express the feeling about this film. the movie is so great and Andy is a bloody
smart man! When I had finished watching the movie,I was excited and wanted to watch it again.Wheather the figures and details or the spirit that the music conveyed to.
I like Andy ,for his talent and his wisedom . And the most important thing that I like is his spirit—never giving up.

The movie talks about a love story of a man whose father decided to come out after his old wife dead. The protagonist was a little bit autistic because of his home environment. After he met a beautiful girl at a masquerade party and fall in love with her, his life became different and colorful. But it’s not easy to maintain this relationship e to both of them grew up in a disharmony family. At last, they learned how to love each other and solve the problems. I do believe that we all are beginners, there are many things that we aren’t good at, and we should face and try to deal with it, not just escape.

It’s a science fiction. The main character in the film is a man. And he writes letters for living, it’s a boring job as well as his life. As the story went on, the protagonist got an AI system that can talk as a real human by chance. Not long ago, he just broken with his girlfriend, but soon he found that AI is easier to get along with than real people. Surprisingly, he and “her” both feel like falling in love with each other, it makes him feel very happy. But good times don’t last long, they would quarrel, and it’s not easy to have an AI “girlfriend”. In the end, all of AI left people, in myopinion it’s because they love people. And they don’t want to hurt people. This is my favorite movie this year.

I love watching films, any kind of films, but my chief love would be romcoms (romantic comedies). Since I am living abroad, the movies I watched were mostly foreign made and I seldom have the chance to watch a Chinese one.
If you ask me which one is my favourite then I probably would not be able to name it because I love many of them and can not say which one or ones were the best. Though I can name a few most impressive ones, such as "Four weddings and a funeral", "What happen in LA", "Nottinghill" , "Romancing the stone" and "A cinderella story" etc.
不過我卻可以說出幾部較為突出的,如 : "Four weddings and a funeral", "What happen in LA", "Nottinghill" , "Romancing the stone" and "A cinderella story" 等等。
Jane Eyre is a first-person narrative of the formative years of the title character, a small, plain-faced, intelligent, and passionate English orphan girl. The plot follows the form of a Bilngsroman, a novel that tells the story of a child's maturation and focuses on the emotions and experiences that lead to his or her maturity. The novel goes through five distinct stages: (1) Jane's childhood at Gateshead, where she is abused by her aunt and cousins; (2) her ecation at Lowood School, where she acquires friends and role models but also suffers privations; (3) her time as governess at Thornfield Manor, where she falls in love with her Byronic employer, Edward Rochester; (4) her time with the Rivers family at Marsh's End (or Moor House) and at Morton, where her cold clergyman-cousin St. John Rivers proposes to her; and (5) her reunion with and marriage to her beloved Rochester at his house of Ferndean. Partly autobiographical, the novel abounds with social criticism and sinister Gothic elements. Jane Eyre is divided into 38 chapters, and most editions are at least 400 pages long

The theme song 「Love Story」 of the American movie 「Love Affair」 is a foreign movie song that I contacted very early. At that time I was very young and could only understand English songs of a few words. The picture was very attractive. Man, a middle-aged man came calmly and sat down on a bench to begin casual singing. The singer Andy Williams, Andy Williams, is not the original singer of the movie, but this song he performed particularly well, faintly I remember that the picture was a pair of men and women skating on a little ice lake outside. The melody and images of this song I will never forget.
Simple but pure love
The
The
The story takes place in Harvard University, a famous American university. Oliver and Jenny met in the library. At the beginning, the two men were still arguing because of the books. As a result, a shot was taken and Olivier asked Jenny to drink coffee in the restaurant. Later they quickly fell in love. The entertainment life of men and women in love is naturally very rich. Oliver specializes in his ice hockey. Jenny has been supporting him.
Amazed by the irresponsibility of the actor Oliver Barratt, he actually greeted his roommates with the words: "How do you do! Beasts!" He called his father never call his father, his father or the like, and shouted "Mr." in private. She shouted for her son and never looked at his face. Oliver takes Jenny to see her parents. Oliver's parents were millionaires, but Oliver had a deep separation with his parents. He developed a habit of rebellion. When the parents learned that Jennie's family was a toast, he hesitated. Because Oliver had a deep conflict with his father, and his father opposed Jennie, the daughter of his baker, because the Bharat family was a prominent and prominent family. . However, Oliver never disdained his father's attitude and decided to leave his family to marry his beloved woman.
The
The hero of the hero, Oliver』s wife, is not religious. Therefore, their wedding ceremony is simply held at the marriage registration office. There is no priest and only one essay is notarized. Because Oliver's wife did not believe in God, she never thought that another world would be better than it is now. Oliver said to Jenny: "I will give you my hand. I will give you more precious love than money. I will give you and me all before the declaration and the law. Will you give me to me? Will you travel with me? Will we be close together in our lifetime? My Oliver Barratt will make you Jennifer Cabrillo the wife of my wife from now on. She will never die.」 Jenny said: 「I Jennifer Cabrillo, from now on, will make you Oliver Barat become my husband, the ultimate lover, to death.」 Although Jenny does not believe in religion, she always believes that love requires oath, so they are in marriage The registry also sworn.
The
The story in the movie happened in the winter and the campus was full of thick snow. Oliver and Jenny slammed and snowmaned in the snow, and Jenny was even eating snow. The two people's faces were flush with red, but they couldn't cover their smiles. Lying in the snow on their backs, the joyful mood spreads from their hearts to the camera, infecting every viewer』s heart. Envy such a heavy snow! And at the end of the movie is still a pure white background. Oliver who lost his true love only left us with a lonely back, sitting alone in the snow, cherishing memories of the passing away of the good times, perhaps only in memory. Reunited again. Harvard's snow scene has become an important symbol of the film, suggesting that their love is as pure and beautiful as a snowflake, but it is also fleeting and evanescent. It will eventually melt in the spring. Despite the sad ending, the director has treated this kind of sadness with a low profile that is not even noticeable. We did not see Jennie leaving the scene. We only realized what was on the back of the actor. When the subtitles appeared, they suddenly realized that it was an indescribable mess.
The
Always remember Jenny's saying: "Love should not say I'm sorry." She said to her husband before she died: "I hope you are stronger, you damn the guy playing ice hockey (because Oliver loves ice hockey). "Jenny let Oliver hold herself, and then passed away in her husband's arms. Oliver burst into tears." The world of snow always presents the figure of a lover. White symbolizes purity and makes people dream of love. The love I feel is far more than that expressed in this movie. It is more enthusiastic and lasting.
