When we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. However, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. The road is smooth, straight, and visible. Since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. One may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel?

Nevertheless, one cannot foresee the future. Accidents do happen. For example, a car may suddenly appear in front of you. At such times, if you did not have the steering wheel, how could you make a sudden turn? Just as no one could foresee the Sichuan Earthquake nor the Japan Tsunami. If the one being trapped under the debris did not have faith, he/she would not have survived until being rescued. If we did not have faith, we could not recover from our sadness and rebuild our home.

Faith is unique, just as happiness is. We feel happy for different reasons, we believe for different things. How can we know what we believe in? 學習英語：從簡單的開始

運用英語：簡單——好、更簡單-—更好、最簡單-—最好

只有從簡單的開始，才容易入門，才容易產生"興趣"，才容易把事情進行下去。 英語閱讀 應遵守"簡單原則"，聽、說、寫都應從最簡單的開始，因為簡單原則有巨大的優點：

1、造就成就感，培養自信。

2、增加興趣。 3、語言朗朗上口。 4、易於學以致用。 但是很多中國學生對簡單的語言往往不屑一顧，只求理解而不去嘗試著使用自己學到的東西。中國學生在學英語中最喜歡追求一個字——"難"。盡管學了很多難的東西，卻不會用。而事實上，簡單的東西如能靈活、准確地使用才是真正重要的。

比如從口語來說，人們並不是看一個人會說多麼難的單詞，關鍵在於看他能否熟練運用最簡單的單詞、句型、語法來表達情感、思想。英語國家人們日常生活的交流是通過有限數量的單詞和簡單的句型來完成的。

Plain English(簡潔英語)在英語國家已成為趨勢：即在說或寫英文時都力求簡單。而中國學生盡管學了很多難詞，復雜的結構，但就連用簡單詞和結構來表達思想都做不到;有時用了很大的詞，一方面不妥，再者也很難讓別人明白。其實當你透徹理解英語中的"小詞"，"簡單表達方式"時，才能熟練地用簡單英語交際。

中國人學習英文，精讀、精聽、精說有餘，但泛讀、泛聽遠遠不夠，大量的亂說就更不夠了。沒有量的變化，怎麼能有質的飛躍?因此，中國人學習英語在注重"精"的同時，必須更加註重"泛"。比如學習英語閱讀，如果沒有讀到足夠的數量，就無法熟練地閱讀英語。若要學習聽力，那就大量地聽各種磁帶，聽英語廣播，看英語電視，看英文電影。如要學習 英語口語 ，那就盡量多說英文。學習英語不能太急於求成，因為只有有了"量"，才能有"質"的飛躍。

量的積累是必須的。許多人學習英語時，往往有一種誤解，認為一本書就代表一個水平。比如，當讀完一本初級閱讀書時，就會說"我的閱讀水平達到初級了"，學完一本高級閱讀書，便狂歡"我達到高級閱讀水平了"。剛剛讀了一本初級口語書，就認為已有初級口語水平。讀了一本高級口語書，就認為已有高級口語水平。其實，英語學習有一個"點-線-面"的關系。一本書只是一個點，無數本書連成一條線，更多的線形成一個面。所謂"水平"就是面的問題。就拿閱讀來說，首先要讀

我在學習英語時就運用了這種突擊強化的方法。我最初開始學習英語，先突擊英語閱讀三個月。從簡易讀物開始，堅持天天最大量地來讀。通過突擊英語閱讀，不但學到了詞彙，還熟悉了各種語法現象，更了解了一些西方的生活、 文化 和思想。緊接著，又去強化聽力，經過三個月的聽力突擊之後，再回過頭強化英語閱讀。強化完閱讀後，再強化聽力。強化完聽力後，再強化英語口語。按

照這個原則，進行閱讀-聽力-口語-寫作的突擊強化。按照這種方法來學英語，進步是飛快的。在這期間天天英語給了我很大的幫助，聽經典句型、跟讀、重復錄音、直接找好友練習口語。 你這樣反復突擊五到六次，你的語音定將成為最棒的。句型、閱讀、語法、聽力、口語也都要有這樣一種反復突擊強化的過程。

That being the case maybe we all wish we could be just a little more like that, the innate goodness and not the trade-offs we make as we go down lifes' highways.

The movie has it all too,drama,comedy and it challenges societal norms as well. Then there are the almost endless quotes from the movie that have slipped into everyday speech. They are too numerous to say at this point.One of the toppers for me in the movie is when Forrest is in a quandary about life and wondering as Lt.Dan said we all have a destiny and his Moms where we are all just floating around like a feather in the wind. Forrest's character puts into a term that I think is pretty to the point,I think it is a little bit of both. From my experiences in life it does sure seem to be that way. So if you have not seen the movie,see it soon you are in for a real treat. If you did not like it, give it a try again and hopefully you will see it for the great story it is!
